Two weeks away
it feels like the world should've changed
But I'm home now
And things still look the same
I think I'll leave it to tomorrow to unpack
Try to forget for one more night
That I'm back in my flat on the road
Where the cars never stop going through the night
To real life where I can't watch sunset
I don't have time, I don't have time

I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I shake it all, forget you
Why, why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused but
I wanna see you again

Tomorrow's back to work down to sanitation
Should've run back ?? before I left here
Try to Mama show her that I was happy here
Before I knew that I could get on the plane and fly away
From the road where the cars never stop going through the night
To real life where I can't watch sunset
And take my time
Take up our time

I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you
I shake it all, forget you
Why, why would I want to
I know we said goodbye
Anything else would've been confused but
I wanna see you again

I miss my boys.

Relish squeeze bottles ought to have built in sphincters.

Just a thought.

Today has been a pleasant day.... a relaxing day.... just the sort of day I've been looking for.

The forecast was looking good so I packed up my pooch and headed out. I had to open the pool at work, and meet Rafiki to pick up some stuff.... and then I went to a park, where Abu and I met some people and their dogs. I found a bench looking out over the river and while Abu chewed on a pig ear I wrote in my new notebook about simple things.

Then we hopped in the car and headed back to the park we always used to go to, when I lived with Bonnie. There ran into one of Abu's old friends, a shepherd-y northendy dog and they ran in circles while I chatted with her owners, and a couple other dogs came to join the fray, and their owners too, and of course Abu got along great with all of them. When they all went home we went to clean the clinic, which I neglected to do on thursday night, and then we returned to the park at the designated time, when the group of dog owners that I had gotten to know before all walk their dogs at the same time. This is how they manage to exercise their dogs without getting any actual exercise themselves..... five young dogs ripping around in circles will tire themselves out pretty well, while the humans stand around talking.

Finally, I went to close the pool at work. Just as I was pulling the cover over the pool, one end of the stand for the pool cover fell into the deep end of the pool. It took all of my strength to get it back out ( a large steel drum wrapped in a wet pool cover with one end sunken) and then I realized that the actual stand.... the piece with the wheels.... had broken off where it was supposed to be welded, and was sitting at the bottom of the pool.

Sooooo..... I fished it out with a long hook..... and then proceeded to manually unwrap the cover by lifting and turning the broken end of the drum, pulling the cover about a foot, then going back and doing the same...... well long story short I'll be racking up some additional overtime..... and my back hurts.... and I said some bad words..... and I'm sure my boss will find a way to blame me for it..... but he can just..... well...... I won't say it. Instead I'll go to bed.

Goodnight.
